Studycast automatically sends your data to anyone you specify via email or fax, but many practices also send data to EMRs or legacy medical information systems. CoreHL7 is Studycast’s solution for EMR or legacy medical information system communication, and it integrates seamlessly with CoreWeb.

CoreHL7 is a combination of an HL7 messaging appliance and the software that runs it. CoreWeb is connected via SSL to the HL7 appliance, which is located at the customer’s site. At any point in the life cycle of a study, CoreWeb can automatically send study data to the HL7 appliance, which then forwards the information to the EMR or legacy system. The hardware is ready to use immediately, and it automatically speaks the language of the receiving system.

The HL7 appliance is a Mirth P1000 Pico messaging device that can be placed in a server rack (half-width) or on its own. It has 80 gigabytes of storage, consumes little energy, features 10/100/1000 Mbps dual Ethernet connectivity. It is controlled entirely via the web, and the CoreWeb-specific appliance features a custom communication protocol from CoreWeb.
