Finding a urology reporting software to capture data on the cancers diagnosed and treated within your practice is a valuable asset. Our cloud PACS solution can assist you in reporting incidents to a central urological cancer registry with minimal effort, to help improve the gaps in current cancer surveillance systems.
Urological Cancer Registries
Cancer registries collect information about new cancer cases, cancer treatment, and cancer deaths to help improve the quality of care and support the search for new cures for cancer. The information collected is reported to the state and federal government including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Hospital-based urological cancer registries focus on “…contributing to patient care by providing readily accessible information on the patients with cancer, the treatment they received, and its results,” according to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
Population-based cancer registries done by states and national agencies like the American Urological Association focus on “…collecting data on all new cases of cancer which occur in a well-defined population. They describe the extent and nature of the cancer burden in the community and assist in the establishment of public health priorities,” per the IARC.
The majority of the data for both types of registries are collected directly from the EHR systems of the participating urology practices.
