Overview
Healthscan Imaging is a medical consulting firm offering in-office ancillary imaging services across four states, supporting a diverse range of practices—from solo providers to large hospital systems. With a focus on consistency and efficiency, Healthscan relies on Studycast to streamline operations and deliver high-quality care across geographically dispersed teams.
The Challenge
Managing imaging workflows across multiple states and practice types presents unique challenges:
- Ensuring consistent quality and reporting
- Supporting remote access and collaboration
- Scaling operations without compromising efficiency
For Bryan Cash, VP of operations and director of nuclear medicine, the solution needed to be flexible, fast, and reliable.
“Studycast has helped Healthscan Imaging be able to bridge a lot of clinics together, a lot of teams together. … Our operation runs seamlessly with Studycast, and having those on-cloud features, whether it be downloading images from afar, getting patient reports, sending PDF files or study images to different physicians outside of our practice—it just makes it very, very user-friendly for the entire staff.”

The Solution
Studycast’s cloud-based platform enables Healthscan Imaging to:
- Conduct 10–12 imaging studies per site per day, compared to the usual 6–8
- Access images within less than 1 minute
- Get new clinics up and running quickly
- Access and share images and reports remotely
- Create consistent reports that suit physicians’ specifications
Studycast plays a pivotal role in Healthscan’s ability to scale. The team performs an average of 10–12 imaging studies per site per day, compared to the 6–8 typically seen at most clinics. Studycast’s cloud-based system ensures that images load faster and that reports can be read from anywhere, which is key to Healthscan’s ability to perform a high volume of exams.
“I can send ten nuclear cardiac images to Studycast in less than a minute, where other solutions require tunnels and ports, and it takes that same data five minutes,” Cash said. “If we can eliminate five minutes per patient, that’s over an hour of our day.”
With such an easy-to-use system, training and retention is improved too. “Training is a lot easier,” Cash explains. “In today’s world we’re in a very high-turnover state, and with Studycast being so user-friendly, staff get a grasp of it within the first few weeks.”
That’s because key features like an EMR integration that builds a worklist for the modality (even with mobile units) minimizes manual data entry. With Studycast, “it usually takes a stress tech three minutes to document the study, just having everything readily available: drop-down boxes, referring physicians already tagged to it,” Cash said.
Studycast has become so integral to Healthscan’s delivery model that Cash describes Healthscan’s services as a “package deal”—bringing not just imaging, but a proven, scalable workflow solution wherever they go.
“We’re constantly utilizing Studycast,” Cash says. The cloud-based platform has enabled seamless transitions between clinics, centralized reporting, and remote admin support—even across EMRs like Epic and Athena. “We can walk it up to the line so the physician just has to click a button.”
